About our cause
Founded in 2002 and becoming a charity in 2013, SOS! Special Educational Needs (SOS!SEN for short!) supports parents, carers, social workers and education professionals to navigate the complex landscape of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in an educational setting on behalf of a child or young person (aged 2-25).
Our mission is to provide a comprehensive range of information, advice, signposting and support to empower caregivers to navigate the intricate legal and bureaucratic processes inherent in securing SEN support in schools. This is done through 1:1’s, EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) checks, working documents, pre action protocol letters (PAP), free Advice Centres, a free Helpline and grounds of appeal.
When the child or young person often remains voiceless in these situations; we empower their caregiver to make their voice heard, to pave the way for a child to thrive into adulthood.
Being part of One Lottery means your support can help generate regular sustainable funding for SOS!SEN, something that is becoming harder and harder to secure in the current climate. With the government starting to make worrying announcements about the future of SEND support in schools, our work is needed now more than ever.
Please help us to continue to offer our services to families on any part of this SEND journey. Whether you buy 1 ticket or 10 tickets, from everyone here at SOS!SEN, thank you.
