About our cause
The West Midlands is proud to be the engine of our national growth, innovation, and prosperity. Yet there is another side to the scale where people struggle to find their place in our society. We focus on two groups who most often fall through the cracks: veterans, and young care leavers emerging from a recent mental health or housing crisis.
🏠 About 28,000 people in the West Midlands are homeless or in temporary accommodation (Shelter, Dec 2024).
❓ Roughly 4,300 18-to-20 year old care leavers across England were assessed as homeless last year (DfE returns, 2024) – that's a 54% rise in five years. Applying national rates that's around 500 young people at risk in the West Midlands. That means, tonight, roughly 120 young people in the West Midlands have no safe, stable place to sleep. And 3–4 care leavers reach crisis point where they lose accommodation, trigger a safeguarding alert or face a mental-health emergency. They need action now, not tomorrow.
🤞 One in five of the region’s 153,000 veterans may need mental health support this week—around 30,000 people (Census 2021; KCL, 2024). Tonight, around 110 veterans in the West Midlands have nowhere permanent to call home. 25–30 of them will bed down rough — in doorways, cars or makeshift shelters. Every day, about 40 veterans are living through a serious mental-health crisis, yet specialist help can still be 12–18 months away.

Our Midlands Campus will provide 20 residential beds and 80 day places let veterans and care leavers live, heal and train together. On site clinicians, mentors and accredited work rotations walk each resident from crisis to secure employment in 6-12 months. Over five years we deliver £33.6m of social value through reduced use of benefits, criminal justice and NHS services. That's the equivalent of providing 20 more visits to the GP for every resident of Leamington Spa at no extra cost.
This campus will be subsidised by a functioning hotel and conferencing venue with up to 50 bedrooms, 100-cover restaurant, wellness suite and cater for events and conferencing up to 1,000. We create 100 new jobs of which 25% will be on apprenticeships and the environmental restoration will restore and safeguard biodiversity. The grounds will be open to the public 300 days a year providing for 40,000 people a year to enjoy restored Victorian gardens. The organisation has made a 70% local procurement (within 30 miles) commitment which will recycles £10.14m a year into the local economy.
Buying a ticket means that we can continue to grow and provide rapid support to those who have found themselves in crisis hardship. So whether you buy 1 ticket or 10 tickets, thank you for joining us in this journey. Together we can ignite brighter futures.
