About our cause
Have a Hart is a local organisation that provides homeless outreach; food, essentials and clothing donations; as well free chiropody for those who need it most. Started in 2014 and headed up by founder and managing director Shirley Hart, Have a Hart is going from strength to strength, and sadly its support is needed by local people now more than ever.
Last Saturday night alone the team supported over 180 people on Temple Row; some just needed extra pieces of warm clothing, others wanted a hearty meal or food essentials, and some just wanted to see the friendly face of someone who cares. Whilst the team is doing a smashing job, the level of help needed by people is growing and so they need more help.
How can you help?
Please donate… it can be food, time, clothing, or money – every bit helps. Essentials are always in need: tinned/dried food, biscuits, chocolate or sweets, bottled water or cans of sugary pop, instant coffee and hot chocolate, toiletries and sanitary products, warm clothing – hats, gloves, socks, sleeping bags.
Volunteer with us if you can – we are always in need of volunteers. We operate two Saturdays a month on Temple Row at the rear of House of Fraser. There’s no commitment – the occasional Saturday is always helpful.
